Moving company damaged furniture: what should I photograph?

A practical checklist for recording damaged furniture, packaging, rooms and moving documents.

Photograph the damaged item in the room where you found it, then capture close details, identifying features, packaging and any relevant moving paperwork.

What to keep

  1. Wide photo showing the item and its surroundings.
  2. Close photos of each damaged area.
  3. Model, brand or identifying details where useful.
  4. Packaging or protective materials if still available.
  5. Photos from before the move if you already have them.
  6. Moving contract, inventory, delivery paperwork and messages.
